I am transgendered. To be more precise, I was born with a male body and an identity which is androgynous but which leans toward female. My preferred pronouns are 'sie' and 'hir' or 'she' and 'her.' My presentation is feminine. In other words, when we meet I'm likely to be wearing a dress. If this poses a problem, then we should arrange to avoid each other. While I welcome inquiries, I have little tolerance for "tranny chasers," Bible-belters, queer-phobes or garden-variety idiots. I reserve the right to tell you "I'm sorry, but that is really none of your business." (Depending on the question, I may include adjectives mocking your intelligence and parentage). I am also happy to discuss gender and transgender issues with sincere media representatives. Please be advised that I have both a sense of humor and a sense of dignity. I'm not thin-skinned, but neither am I willing to participate in a freak show. And if you have questions about your own gender identity, feel free to drop me a line. Many of us have a powerful connection to deity. I will be happy to put you in touch with Spirit, or with people who can help you. You are not sick. You are not insane. And you are not alone. If you are interested in learning more about gender theory, good sources include Kate Bornstein, b.c. holmes, Leslie Feinberg and Raven Kaldera. If you'd like to take your knowledge from the theoretical to the visceral, check out the Wall of Remembrance. And if you are interested in the material I wrote as Kevin Filan, here is a link to my old website. |
